Breasts swell and then become deflated after having children, breast feeding and with weight gain and subsequent loss. This can cause the breasts to loose upper pole fullness and volume. Also the breast gland often falls below the inframmary crease. This condition is called glandular ptosis.
Breast augmentation will improve fullness in the deflated upper pole and will reinflate and slightly lift the breast. This is effective as long as the nipple is at or above the level of the inframmary crease. If the nipple is below the level of the inframmary crease, a mastopexy or breast lift can be added to the breast augmentation procedure for optimal results.
